Certified true copies

When you cannot hand over an original — your passport, a diploma or a unique certificate — many authorities accept a certified true copy instead: a copy certified by a notary as identical to the original.

We organise certified copies at a Georgian notary and, where needed, translate them and add an apostille or legalization so they can be used abroad. This is often the safest way to submit important documents without risking the originals.

Before we start, we check what the receiving authority accepts — some want a certified copy of the original, others a certified copy of the translation, or both.

Frequently copied documents

  • Passports and identity cards
  • Diplomas, certificates and transcripts
  • Civil status certificates
  • Company statutes, extracts and resolutions

Frequently asked questions

Can a certified copy be apostilled?

Yes. The notary's certification is a public act, so the certified copy can receive an apostille and be used abroad.

Do I have to bring the original?

Yes, the notary must see the original document to certify that the copy is identical.

Can you make certified copies of foreign documents?

Often yes, depending on the document. If needed, we first translate it so the notary can work with it.
