Apostille in Georgia
An apostille is the certificate that makes a public document from one country valid in another country that is party to the Hague Apostille Convention. Georgia is a member of the Convention, so Georgian public documents can be used abroad with an apostille — without further consular legalization in member countries.
We take care of the whole procedure: we check that your document can be apostilled, submit it to the competent Georgian authority, and collect it for you. If the document also needs a translation, we organise both in the right order — some countries want the apostille translated, others want the translation itself apostilled.
For documents issued in other countries — for example in France, Germany, Italy or another member state — our international network can obtain the apostille in the country of issue, then translate and certify the document for use in Georgia.
Documents commonly apostilled
- Civil status certificates: birth, marriage, divorce, death
- Diplomas, school certificates and transcripts
- Criminal record certificates
- Notarial deeds, powers of attorney and certified copies
- Court decisions
- Company registration extracts and corporate documents

Frequently asked questions
Which countries accept an apostille?
All countries that are party to the Hague Apostille Convention — including the EU member states, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Türkiye and many others. For other countries, consular legalization is needed instead.
Can a private document be apostilled?
Not directly. A private document, such as a contract or a declaration, must first be certified by a notary. The notarial certification is a public document that can then be apostilled.
How long is an apostille valid?
The apostille itself does not expire. However, the receiving authority may require that the underlying document was issued recently — this is common for criminal record and civil status certificates.
